Personalized Care Addressing the Whole Body & Mind

Our Care Team
At Rooted Health, we use a team approach to deliver personalized, integrative care. Here's a simple breakdown of the key roles you may encounter at our facility:
Medical Providers (they can diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, create treatment plans, and perform procedures):
MD or DO
Fully trained physicians (MD: Doctor of Medicine or DO: Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) who complete medical school and residency. They lead complex care and often oversee the practice.
APRN / NP (e.g., FNP-C — Family Nurse Practitioner, Certified):
Advanced practice nurses with master's or doctoral education plus specialized training. In Georgia, they are licensed to diagnose, treat, prescribe medications, and serve as your primary care provider.
Board Certification (like FNP-C or board-certified MD/DO in a specialty) means the provider has passed tough national exams, proven expert-level knowledge in their field, and commits to ongoing learning and recertification. It’s a mark of high-quality, specialized expertise.
Registered Nurse (RN) — Skilled nurses who support your care but do not diagnose or prescribe. They can/will:
- Administer IVs, injections, medications, and treatments
- Monitor your progress and vital signs
- Help everything run smoothly between you and the providers
Everyone works together to focus on your whole health—root causes, prevention, and feeling your best. We're here to make your wellness journey clear, supportive, and effective.
Meet Our Expert Team

Livia Kell, MSN, FNP-C
Livia O. Kell, FNP-C is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Founder of Rooted Health Integrative Medicine. She graduated with high honors from South University in Savannah, Georgia.
With a strong focus on integrative and functional medicine, Livia completed a postgraduate program in Nutritional Adequacy and Maintenance of Homeostasis — Prevention and Treatment of Age-Related Diseases at UNINGÁ (Brazil) through the Dr. Lair Ribeiro Program. Livia is certified in Ozone Therapy and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ozonotherapy (AAOT). She is also currently pursuing advanced education through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM).
Her path into functional medicine was shaped by both academic training and diverse clinical experiences. While in remote Alaska, Livia cared for Native populations with high rates of renal and metabolic disease, gaining deep insight into how chronic illness develops and the influence environment, genetics, lifestyle, and social determinants has on individual health. Later, her time in the Brazilian Amazon with Ribeirinho communities revealed a striking paradox: despite very limited access to healthcare, many individuals demonstrated strong health, resilience, and notable longevity, supported by deep-rooted community ties. Driven by a passion for delivering deeper, root-cause focused care, Livia founded Rooted Health Integrative Medicine in 2025. Here Livia integrates Western evidence-based medicine with functional and integrative strategies to restore physiologic balance, optimize health, and empower patients toward long-term vitality and resilience.
She provides clinical care across the lifespan including pediatric and adolescent metabolic health. She has contributed to the care of patients with cardiometabolic conditions, including metabolic-related cardiomyopathy, in collaboration with Children’s Cardiovascular Medicine.
Livia also delivers concierge, home-based care throughout Atlanta, emphasizing personalized, science-based, patient-centered preventive medicine to optimize health and promote longevity.
In Collaboration with:

Dr. Eduardo Montaña M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A
Double Board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology and Board Eligible in Preventive Medicine, making him one of the few Preventive Pediatric Cardiologists nationally. Dr. Montaña completed all his training in Preventive Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology at the Emory University School of Medicine as well as his Master’s of Public Health at Emory’s world-renowned Rollins School of Public Health. He received his General Pediatric residency training at Jackson Memorial Hospital at University of Miami.

Mackenzie Schoolmaster, RN, BSN, BC-FMNS
Mackenzie is a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with 16 years of experience rooted in the emergency/urgent care settings.
Completing both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University and Master of Science in Health Law at Nova Southeastern University, Mackenzie holds a Compact State Nursing License (RN-C) and is board certified as a Functional Medicine Nurse Specialist. Mackenzie contributes a practical approach to optimal wellness with her clinical knowledge and a passion for holistic care.
Frustrated by the fast-paced, insurance-driven, revolving door of traditional allopathic medicine, Mackenzie sought a better way, co-founding Rooted Health Integrative Medicine to offer personalized, “root-cause focused” functional medicine with an integrative method for the whole person, mind and body.
At Rooted Health, Mackenzie is excited to help Livia, in collaboration with Dr. Ohagwu, to offer individualized care plans that prioritize natural healing, lifestyle optimization, and minimal reliance on pharmaceuticals. With no insurance “red tape”, we can empower our Smyrna/Vinings community and beyond to truly thrive, not just survive!

Nickita Thakkar – Cosmetologist – Head Spa Specialist
After years of working with different hair types and textures across India, Dubai and Atlanta one thing has remained true for Nickita: Healthy hair always begins at the scalp.
Because Nickita works extensively with color and other chemical services, she believes it is of utmost importance to counterbalance these services with intentional scalp care. Head spa rituals give the hair and scalp space to breathe, reset, and restore. They support circulation, remove buildup, and create the right foundation for stronger, healthier growth.
At the end of the day, it is about balance and genuine care. Caring for the roots as much as the hair leads to visible and noticeable improvements at the roots. Healthier hair, a calmer mind, and a deeper sense of connection within.
Nickita is excited to share her knowledge for achieving a healthier scalp and rejuvenated hair health via her expertise and individualized Head Spa rituals at Rooted Health Integrative Medicine.
